Treviso Pilot Site: 2021 summary and big news for 2022

In Treviso, one of the seven pilot sites, the ValueCare project pilot activities started. The two organisations working together to organise and implement the activities are the Treviso Local Health Autority (Aulss2 Marca Trevigiana), in particular the Centre for Cognitive Disease and Dementia (CDCD) and the Istituto per Servizi di Ricovero e Assistenza agli Anziani (ISRAA). The team involved is composed of: the director of CDCD, Maurizio Gallucci, the psychologisgt of CDCD Chiara Da Ronch, the AULSS 2 project Manager, Elena Procaccini, the coordinator of FABER-ISRAA Oscar Zanutto and Stefania Macchione and Sara Ceron that are the psychologists of ISRAA specialized in working with cognitive diseases.

The target population of Treviso is older people, over 65 years old, suffering of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and/or suffering of high levels of hypertensions and/or suffering of Type 2 Diabetes. They will be recruited through the capillary network, which over the years has been created by the CDCD. More precisely, 120 older people will be part of the intervention group and 120 of the control group. In addition, 50/70 informal caregivers, 30/40 health and social practitioners and 5/10 IT experts will also be recruited. ISRAA will cooperate with the CDCD during the whole recruitment process, but especially for the last two targets mentioned above.

ISRAA is the leader of WP2 and has the role to coordinate the development of new integrated care model built on value-based methodology to be implemented at EU level: in particular, in these years, ISRAA will coordinate, together with KVC, the co-design activities.

But, which are the activities foreseen by the project?

ValueCare intends to provide personalised health care supported by a powerful ICT solution, consisting of an app, a dashboard and a smartwatch to measure the main vital parameters.

Now let’s see which activities took place in 2021 and what is expected in 2022!

In 2021, the second co-design round took place with the participation of all project targets. On this occasion, several focus groups were organised in order to collect feedback and suggestions for the development of the ValueCare model and the ICT solution.

Moreover, in September ISRAA had the honour and pleasure to organise and host the 7th consortium meeting of the project, the first one in attendance after 2 years of COVID-19 pandemic. It was a unique opportunity for all the partners, who were able to discuss the various topics, continue with the development of the project and establish and consolidate new relationships.

The year 2022 is off to a great start and ValueCare’s agenda is full of appointments and meetings.

First of all, in February the team organised 3 training sessions at one of ISRAA’s nursing homes for health and social practitioners wishing to take part in the project. It was very well attended by 30 health and social practitioners (geriatricians, psychologists, social workers, physiotherapists…) from both institutions. On this occasion, the project was presented to them in all its parts: the participants showed great interest and accepted to be part of the project.

In March, the recruitment of the first participants officially started and so far, 17 older people, 8 informal caregivers and 12 health and social practitioners have been involved. At the moment, they have been given the baseline questionnaire, but in the next weeks they will also be presented and handed over the ICT solution.

Parallel to the recruitment, the teams are busy organising dissemination events. As a matter of fact, on Friday 6th May 2022, the first event will be held with key local stakeholders, with the aim of creating a strong Local Alliance.

The events, however, do not end here! In fact, in September 2022 a big national seminar will be organised with national and international guests in the magical location of Venice. In the coming months, we will provide more details of the event!

Moreover, between May and September there will be a new co-design round, the third one, which will serve to evaluate the ICT solution, in order to provide the last suggestions, before the publication of its final version.

Finally, at the of May, a delegation of AULSS2 and ISRAA will participate in the 22nd International Conference on Integrated Care in Odense (Denmark), where the project will be presented during a workshop with other ValueCare colleagues.

In conclusion, 2022 promises to be a year full of events, meetings and lots of news: we invite you to follow us on the official Italian website of the project to stay updated and in touch with us (https://www.valuecareitalia.it/) !
